Thoughts on Vices
All vices are of course undesirable...especially the serious one like abuse of alcohol, gambling, sexual promiscuity etc...
But nobody is perfect right?
Since nobody is perfect...which vices is the most tolerable for you?
I haven't met anyone who needs to drink till drunk every other day or has an insatiable appetite for sex or change gf/bf like clothes... but I have known of people who are sinking in the pool of gambling & debts...
Maybe its because I'm a Chinese, and it is quite a known fact that Chinese love to gamble...In almost every Chinese family, there will certainly be some one who dabbles in some form of gambling... I was exposed to gambling since I was very young, remember hearing the sound of people playing mahjong every weekend while staying over at my Grandma's place..
It wasn't until a few years back before I realised about the severity of gambling...
Because of my life experiences, I'm quite $$ sensitive.. and as you know, gambling involved $$.. sometimes very big amount..
I guess that's why gambling tops my list..
Even then, I don't entirely hate gambling.. even myself, I do dabble in some form of gambling such as buying 4D, playing blackjack..
What I don't like is the mentality behind the gambling.. is it for leisure/entertainment or it is a livelihood? It is fine to gamble... as long as one plays within his/her means..
But sadly.. for some people, what may starts as a leisure, becomes a livelihood and then the amount spiraled out of control..
What is even more sad is when it spiraled out of control, innocent parties may get suck into the twister...
In the end, what is left behind of the twister will be nothing but a trail of broken stuff (and hearts?)..
Remember the advertisement of the father asking for piggy bank $$ of the little girl?
I really hope that nobody I know of, will become either one of the characters in the ad...
